If you see HFCS, pick out an alternative brand of the same food without it. HFCS is also called: corn sugar, maize syrup, glucose syrup, fructose syrup, isolated fructose, and crystalline fructose.

Whole grain items are usually the best choice, but they are not all equal in quality. Do a pantry purge. Go into your kitchen, open up your pantry, and look at the nutrition label for each food item that you own. Have a trashcan nearby and toss any foods with HFCS into it.

However, that could also be considered just passing the nutrition problem along. Go for fresh foods, instead of canned or frozen. Canned fruit is convenient, but it is stripped of its fiber during processing.

A piece of whole fruit can give you a fiber boost along with the sweetness of natural sugar. Exchange canned items, such as premade pasta sauce, for healthier options, like making your own sauce out of fresh tomatoes.

Go with plain foods. Choose basic vanilla yogurt, steel-cut oatmeal, and other foods without sauces or toppings. HFCS often hides in fruit toppings in otherwise healthy food options, like yogurt. By adding your own fresh fruit, such as strawberry slices, you can control the portion sizes as well.

Cinnamon, ginger, and even pepper are all good options. Buy higher quality sweets. If you have a bit of a sweet tooth, that is okay.

Just buy candies and treats made under the highest production standards, even if they are imported. They may be more expensive, but counteract this by allowing yourself only one small piece as an occasional treat.

Method 2. Use fruit as a sweetener. Choose your favorite fruits, such as bananas, and incorporate them into foods that normally would contain extra sugars or HFCS.

Mix banana slices into your steel-cut oatmeal or into plain, vanilla yogurt. Dates or bananas can also substitute for sugar in many baked recipes. However, still try to use any sweeteners, even natural ones, in moderation. Choose honey as a sweetener.

Add it into foods 1 teaspoon 5 ml at a time to sweeten them up. government agency responsible for promoting public health Go to source. Pack healthy snacks.

To keep yourself from reaching for that HFCS-filled candy bar, pack some fruit slices in your bag for the day. Or, get a small container of hummus and some pre-cut carrot sticks. Make your own salad dressing or other condiments. Create your own dressing by mixing together some olive oil, pepper, lemon juice, and balsamic vinegar.

Experiment with recipes for other condiments too, like ketchup, barbeque sauce, mayo , or mustard. A single tablespoon of barbecue sauce can cost you upwards of 5 grams 0.

Method 3. Avoid canned or bottled beverages. Sports drinks, sodas, and flavored teas or lemonades are usually packed to the brim with HFCS.

Check the Passover section of your supermarket. Avoid fast food. HFCS is hidden throughout many different types of fast food to increase flavor. Eat foods made from natural ingredients at home to control what goes into the final product. Avoid boxed or prepackaged meals.

If HFCS is not in the main part of the meal, such as the pasta in boxed macaroni and cheese, then it is likely in the sauce packet. If you are looking for a meal shortcut without HFCS, buy precooked main dishes, like roasted chicken, from your local deli.

As an alternative, pick up a piece of whole fruit and get the fiber benefits. Use caution when buying breakfast cereals and granola bars. Some granola bars actually have more sugar than their chocolate counterparts.

Try replacing a sugar-filled cereal with steel-cut oatmeal instead. Is there like an experiment that we conduct on the food to check the existence of HFCS?

It is certainly working. It is all out of control as more than half the population is dying of cancer, and numerous other manmade for profit diseases. I once read a book that talked about the FDA. The food corporations alternate CEO s on the board through political means. Now the corporations that are meant to be overseen by the FDA ,run the FDA.

So aspertame a poison declared as toxic in the 70s is in many diet products. You cannot sue the FDA. Americans are obese ,diabetic , and hyper tension due to the poisonous food supply. This puts a tremendous amount of pressure on our health care system.

Heart disease is rampant. Americans are a mess. Bloated and mass brainwashed by the corporate media who is owned wholly by only two corporations both of whom are nothing but propaganda ministries.

We are being poisoned on purpose so that pharmasuitical corporations sell billions of pills that do nothing but exacerbate the problem. What can you do? Eat whole foods ,raed labels spread the word. Well said Paul and do true.

The FDA and big pharmaceutical companies are every bit as evil as the drug cartels in Mexico. Amen Lloyd, you are absolutely right. The FDA is so crooked.!! My husband has gout very bad for the last 16 years. One thing that fires it up is the HFCS! It will immediately flare it up.

Not sure if it is gout or just plain arthritis. But if you have either ailment, watch the HFCS! After I went gluten free I never had another bout of gout again. I have been on a search for products with no HFCS for years ever since I learned in nursing school years ago that our bodies cannot process it and it is immediately stored as fat.

Sticking with fresh foods is about the only way. And in order to keep the money rolling in, the allow this companies to continue the use of many food processing at the expense of their customers health and well being. I personally feel that the FDA needs to be taken to court and sued, in the same respect that a doctor and hospitals are accountable, the Food Industry, Monsanto, Dow Chemical and others and the FDA need also to be held accountable, in a big way!

We need a White House petition started once Trump is the president to have it banned here. Can you find something else to blame Obama for? This poison was in our foods long before he took office!

I REALLY hope they ban HFCS in the U. For me, I am 24 and I have A. When I have something with HFCS it gives me a bad headache. That is why when I go shopping with my mom or my aunt I have to quadruple read the ingredients. I would be so happy if they not only banned HFCS in the U.
